What is RFID Digital Timing?
RFID Digital Timing is an application of Radio Frequencies IDentification technology for the active sports industry. The Digital Timing electronics digitally records a timestamp every time an RFID transponder passes an antenna and sends the information for processing.
How does RFID Digital Timing apply to Active Sports Events?
For each event, a small transponder (TAG) is assigned to each participant, which is uniquely identified by the Timing Electronics at each timing location. This allows the equipment to track each participant bib number as they pass each of the different timing locations.

Participants pass over mats at each timing location, which contain the hidden antennas and can be setup in a range of environments, including asphalt, grass, sand, and dirt trails. Usually, timing locations will be setup at a start line and finish line, but miscellaneous timing splits can also be incorporated, such as triathlon transition splits or marathon section splits.
During the race, the central timing computer will collect and process time data from each of the timing locations in order to produce ongoing race results on-site.
How much work does RFID Digital timing require?
Eternal Timing Staff will attend your event, set up the equipment, assign the timing Tags to athletes, operate the equipment, clean up the timing locations, and collect the Tags from athletes with only the help of a small number of volunteers event weekend.
What is the finished product of RFID Timing?
Eternal Timing will update your online race results in real time, resolve results questions on-site, print and post your event results for review, and will field your athlete questions for 20 business days after your event. It is also possible for Eternal Timing to provide, set up, operate and clean up results computers for athletes and spectators to review live race information in an effort to keep your event as "Green conscious" and technologically advanced as possible.
